NO. Reflexology identifies where stress and tension is located in the body and works to relieve them. If a patient has informed the practitioner of other symptoms that coincide with the stress and tension identified by reflexology then they will be advised to visit their doctor. Reflexology is complimentary not an alternative to doctor's advice.
During treatment certain areas where stress and tension are located may be sensitive but the sensitivity quickly reduces. Reflexology patients report a feeling of deep relaxation, most falling asleep during treatment regardless of the sensitivity.
It is totally safe to have a daily Reflexology session, however not always practical! Often patients have a weekly treatment to help to relieve particular conditions and once it is decided that their body is balanced and responding well, they might move to fortnightly then monthly maintenance treatments or purely for the calming and relaxing benefits. Reflexology works at its optimum with regular treatments however some patients enjoy Reflexology on an ad-hoc basis as a treat.
They are one of the most neglected parts of the body and yet they are vital. So often feet are squashed into footwear and forgotten until you visit a Reflexology practitioner. Then it is often with great embarrassment you display your feet. They help to support your body weight and provide mobility - without your feet you would fall over. It has been said that in a lifetime you would walk 70,000 miles which is the equivalent of walking to the moon and back. So you can see why your feet need pampering, one of the best ways of giving your feet extra care and attention is with Reflexology. By receiving treatment on your feet you are actually helping your entire body. This is due to the fact that minute points in your feet form a map of your body mirroring every organ, function and structure.
